Samba comes to semley

Local schools join together in a colourful celebration of Brazilian drumming

Samba Drumming 7.jpeg

Five local primary schools – Semley, Wardour, Hindon, Motcombe and Ludwell – have hosted drumming workshops this term, led by expert percussionist Felix Gibbons and generously funded by Sandroyd School.

Felix has played alongside top Brazilian musicians, covering everything from samba and salsa to bhangra and pop, for over 20 years.

He has brought his wealth of performing and teaching experience into the classroom, with each school enjoying a day of Latin rhythms for all age groups.

Now he brings the carnival spirit to Semley Music Festival with his young performers, who take to the main stage on Saturday, to open the second day of the festival with a bang!

Join the party and learn how to shake, rattle and roll Brazilian style. Felix’s band will be leading the way with some samba rhythms and salsa dance moves.

And you can catch him playing with his band, Tribo da Gafieira, later in the day.
